A couple of days ago, I mustered up the courage to try out something new on my own. After weeks of making plans with friends, I was the only one left interested in the event and decided to attend what was called “Spoken Fest 2017”. The introduction to the event left me intrigued, it was going to be a lot of known and new faces ready to take on an audience with the power of their words. The concept was quite new to me, so I was obviously a bit skeptical about spending time and money, but I decided to give it a shot anyway, after all, you don’t get to listen to Zakir Khan poetry every day, even if its for a short while. The two day festival featured a host of artists ready to mesmerize the audience with their spell binding literature, some with music and some with the simple power of pure voice. Last night, as I was going through some random web browsing and basking in the intellect of other people's knowledge, I heard them again, the raindrops, they were bashing against the earth, as if charging towards the ground with all their might, but losing their will to fight right before the final blow. If you have seen those couples fight which have just entered a relationship, you will realize that they build up a lot of anger in themselves a lot of times, but by the time it all comes out, they understand that they can't afford to lose the person in front of them, Just as they are about to get into a massive fight, one of them will calm down as the other will stand in front with a calm face. MOVE ON There comes a time in everyone’s life when there is a melancholy sound filling your heart but you cannot explain it to anyone. The piercing daggers in your head keep hurting you, but the world knows only a happy face. A weird discomfort enshrouds the soul, but the shroud is beautiful for people, sometimes to an extent where they get jealous of you and contribute to the daggers piercing blood out of you. Sleepless nights and non-content souls are a reality, and yes, they do exist more frequently that anybody realizes. What does not exist is a solution if you keep dwelling in the problem. I know, years of math training has taught us to keep looking at the problem and you will find the solution; and life is a little similar – little different from maths. Look at the problem but only to observe and find a solution, not to worry. Easier said than done it may be, but choices are limited under the two-faced shroud. Worker Bees They say, statistics never lie; so, I have decided to fall back on them. As per a random website that I landed on with the help of Google, 77,000 jobs were created in India in 2016. Yet, we are still struggling with low employment rate, the sword of lay-offs over our head, and the fear of losing the rat-race (since everyone calls it that, although even I am part of it and nowhere close to winning it). Another side of the coin is that India saw the rise of start-ups with immense acceleration in 2016. It has been reported that in 2016, there were 19000 start-ups in India. The number of active investors in India has doubled. The growth was so astounding that the government had to acknowledge it and create a separate entity called ‘Startup India’. It may seem that the general paradigm in India is shifting from looking for jobs to creating them; but, we are still creating jobs with the start-ups and people are happy with start-ups more because of this factor,...
