WORDS
There are words flowing in and out of me. My mind is taking a toll so big; the words don’t seem to stand a chance. My heart is constantly pumping them in arteries but as soon as they reach ‘The Gate’ – Poof – vanish in the thin air.
As I write this piece of poorly selected and awfully permuted bundle of letters, a gallon of thoughts boils inside me, growing which each rising degree of temperature. Still, even in this fog of steam, one star outshines through the haziness. Why is it that some thoughts leave their mark and others fail to perturb you the slightest? It’s like you imprint (for those who don’t know, imprint is a werewolf phenomenon brought into existence by Stephanie Meyer) on certain thoughts; they hold you to themselves for what seems like eternity.
We all have those memories- of words and actions- of own and others- that sway the very core of our soul and carve a permanent place for themselves. These thoughts are like the raindrops that dig a hole deeper and deeper into the rock with each passing moment of time. These unique and unexplainable checkpoints of brain are like ROM- once established, they can’t be gotten rid off.
As I pose this question, I recall a promise, a promise made to someone not exactly near and dear, yet somehow impactful. It was a very dainty little promise- of acknowledgement- a simple thank you gesture on adding an accomplishment in my kitty. Somehow, those words spoken out of sheer casualness impregnated in my mind, claiming an enduring spot in the unforgettable section. I wrote this article to salute to those memories that get etched in the mind and share what they taught me.
“WORDS ARE PRECIOUS AND PUNGENT SWORDS”
Make sure you use the right ones. You never know which one leaves it’s footprint on the sand of time and memory. After all, it was once well said- A word and an arrow- once spoken or shot- cannot be taken back.
Even the word "thanks" said on a wrong occasion can worsen the situation.
ReplyDeleteEmployer: "I need your resignation"
Employee: "Thanks"
